Kiss Your Boss Goodbye: How To Become a Stay-at-Home Mom

how to become a stay at home mom

Are you trying to figure out how to become a stay-at-home mom and be able to afford it?

About 12 years ago, I was at that same point–wondering how I could become a stay-at-home mom and not worry about money. It was a world new to work-at-home moms, so there weren’t a lot of guidebooks on how to make the transition successfully.

There are many working women who want to come home. You may be one of them. Though the dream is strong, unfortunately, many don’t know how to save enough money to stay home.

The good news is there are several options for making this dream a reality. Listen to this first podcast in the Goodbye Boss, Hello Kids series, and in no time, you’ll learn how to become a stay-at-home mom.

Intro to the Goodbye Boss Series

Listen to the introduction to the Goodbye Boss series to learn how you can afford to become a stay-at-home mom.

How To Become a Stay-at-Home Mom:

1 – Find a work from home opportunity.

You have to be careful when choosing advertised opportunities to work from home. There are many legitimate options, but just as many, if not more, scams. Do your research thoroughly to help avoid getting duped.

2 – Start your own business.

Though this is a great option, it does involve a lot of hard work. Even though rewards are good, you will have to be patient in order to experience them. When running your own business, it may take some time before your paychecks become steady and you realize a profit. But with the right business, planning and hard work, it is possible.

3 – Learn to live on one income without feeling deprived.

This is the best option to start with. Once you’re able to do this, you can comfortably afford to become a stay-at-home mom without the pressure of having to bring in extra income. When you know you can live on one income, you release the stress of trying to find a work at home job immediately, and you can enjoy being at home with your kids.

The best timing to learn how to live on one income is while you are still working outside the home. You will then be able to begin eliminating debt while building up your “stay at home” savings. Being debt-free with money in the bank will give you peace of mind when you do finally leave the workplace and come home.

Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing with you, step-by-step, practical lessons on how to move from two incomes to one, and how to save enough money to stay home. Each lesson will include valuable tips and action steps to take. I encourage you to find a special notebook or journal to use to record your notes and your answers to the challenges.

Next Steps

In next week’s lesson, we’ll discuss some of the obstacles to coming home and how to overcome them. But don’t worry – between now and next week, I’ll be sharing other valuable tips on how to thrive at home.
