Are you worth talking about? Do you have customers or fans who rave about your products or services? Do you have lots of them?
To grow a wildly successful business, you need people who love what you do and can’t stop talking about it.
As Andy Sernovitz says in his book, Word of Mouth Marketing,
“Treat people well, and they will do your marketing for you, for free.”
How do you create these types of fans? You have to give them something buzzworthy to talk about.
Do Something Special
Boring businesses don’t attract buzz. If you send your products on time in perfectly sized brown packages, your customers will be satisfied. But if you send your products in colorful packages with multi-colored stuffing and wrapped in a big bow, they’ll tell others about you.
Perhaps you provide a service, then think of offering something free on their first visit or if they refer someone. Or create a special, unique way to advertise your services…one that gets people talking.
Spread Joy
Making your customers happy is one way to get them talking, so think of ways you can absolutely thrill them. Give them excellent service. Make unforgettable products. Give them something extra. Solve their problems.
When you make your customers happy, they will eagerly tell a friend about you. Joy spreads quickly, so find a way to start it.
Appeal to the Lazy
Make it easy for your message to be spread among your customers. Create a message that’s simple and then help your fans spread it. One-sentence topics that are easy to remember are best, such as, “We give our customers one free dessert a month.”
Now, find ways to make it easy to spread. Social media or ezines or emails are great tools to put your word of mouth marketing into motion.
Gain their Respect
It goes without saying that to gain trust you must show yourself trustworthy. Be known as a business that has good ethics, treats their customers well, and follows through on their word. If your clients can rely on you and trust you, then they are more likely to recommend you to someone else.
By following these tips, you can make your business buzzworthy. What’s one way you get your customers talking about your products or services?
